Poetry
Why did you not listen?
To my silent cries
Underneath my cloak
My heart doth cry
And while I dried your clothes
My eyes I dried
And while I sparkled shoes
My Inner sparkle died
And when I taught my children
You only taught them lies
I vowed to you my life,
And that’s exactly what you stole inside!
Why did you not listen?
To my voice
Of Broken betrayal
And behind this veil
My resilience resides
And while I swept away floors
You swept away mine
And when I washed your dishes
You only dished out lashes
And when I loved my kids
You only loved your liquid
So take my bloodstained bangles
Because god is now my witness!
Why did you not listen?
To my poisoned heart
My soul, my body and mind?
You thought about yours
But you never considered mine
And while I tended you
You never tended me
And when I cared for you
You never cared for me
So when I spoke of love
My love is exactly what you stole from me!
Now listen
To my cries
Even a caged bird was once free
So it is to freedom that I stride
Now listen
To my voice
Even the darkest shadow disappears
When it finally sees the light
Now listen
To my heart
Time can heal the deepest wounds
And time is on your side!
Alas death it cannot heal
For this wound was meant to be
The dead died for a reason
The reason being to listen
The reason being to learn
So now that you have heard
Will you listen to my cries?
