About
Voice of Unity (VOU) is a magazine covering a wide spectrum of issues relevant to Muslim youth in the UK, based on the traditions of the Ahlul Bayt (as). It is a creative outlet for Muslim youth to discuss and debate and a platform for increasing our knowledge.
Its run by an editorial team of students and young graduates and is published by the registered charity Islamic Unity Society (IUS).
Voice of Unity has been printed and distributed since its start in 1995. The dedicated website www.voiceofunity.com has been live since April 2010 and is currently in beta mode.
Vision
We hope to foster a community of writers and readers through the VOU magazine and website.
Comment posting, sharing articles with friends, writing articles and poems yourself are all elements of a buzzing intellectual community.
We hope that we can be a small part of such a movement towards encouraging literary excellence in our respective communities around the UK.
History
The VOU started out as a bi-monhtly IUS Newsletter in September 1995 at eight pages. By September 1998, it was rebranded as the Voice of Unity and had grown to 16 pages with increasing contributions.
Come January 2004, the VOU changed format to a 24 page quarterly magazine. The VOU was relaunched in October 2008 as a 28 page magazine with a contemporary new logo and layout, and www.voiceofunity.com was launched in April 2010.
You can view some of the past VOU issues in the Archive Page, which is currently being added to.
